The latest ecodesign requirement of EU Directive 2023/826 stipulates that the standby consumption of electronic devices - e.g. entertainment devices - may only be 0.5 watts. In order to achieve this target, the power losses in each semiconductor component must be carefully checked, starting with the input bridge, which is connected to the mains and is always in operation.
Diotec Semiconductor meets this requirement with its latest series of "Low Vf" or "-LV" rectifier bridges, such as the GBI25J-LV. Compared to the standard GBI25J version, this component offers a reduction in forward voltage Vf of 12% per single diode. The Vf parameter is proportional to the power dissipation as a first approximation, and since there are always two diodes per bridge, the total saving is 24% compared to the standard version. This is impressive and could be the decisive step towards achieving the eco-design requirement of only 0.5 W standby power.

Littelfuse announced the new SP33R6, a series of four-channel, low capacitance (0.2pF) TVS diode arrays. These robust diodes provide extremely low breakdown/turn-on voltages, making them ideal protectors of high-speed data lines with low voltage (-0.3 to +0.3V). Without performance degradation, they can safely absorb repetitive ESD strikes above the maximum level specified in IEC 61000-4-2 international standard (Level 4, ±8kV contact discharge).
The SPxxR6 TVS Diode Arrays are ideal for use in a wide range of data communications interfaces for consumer electronics, including:
USB 3.2 and 4.0,
Thunderbolt 3.0 and 4.0,
PCI Express 6.0.
The chipsets from USB 4.0 suppliers are known to be particularly susceptible to damage from voltages over 3.3V and the SP33R6 and SP00R6 TVS diode array series provides an exceptional solution for the protection of high-speed interfaces like USB 4.0 against repeated ESD strikes.

This new type of transponder was developed specially for applications where it is not possible to use one of our proven NeoTAG® transponder in Inlay, Plug or Flag versions due to the design requirement of the object. There are versions available for use with metallic and non-metallic objects. Depending on the required installation of the adhesive film transponders, different compositions can be realized with ferrite layers as the bottom or top layer. On non-metallic objects, there is no need for the ferrite film, thus creating very flat transponders. The outer dimensions can be adjusted variable to meet the application space requirements.
Due to its flexible design, this label transponder can be applied to both curved and bent surfaces.
