Modern data centers and high-performance server platforms demand ever-higher power density, efficiency and reliability while operating under continuous high-load conditions. Traditional silicon power devices are increasingly constrained by switching losses, thermal limits and system size. Silicon Carbide (SiC) technology addresses these challenges by delivering significantly higher critical electric field strength, superior thermal conductivity and faster switching capability.
Littelfuse offers a complete SiC power portfolio tailored for these demanding applications. The range includes 650 V and 1200 V SiC MOSFETs in both standard discrete packages and advanced ceramic-based isolated packages (ISO247 and top-side-cooled SMPD-B half-bridge configurations), together with matching SiC Schottky diodes, optimized gate drivers and SMFA asymmetrical TVS diodes for precise gate protection.
Key advantages for server and data-center power supplies include:
-Lower conduction and switching losses that improve overall system efficiency
-Higher power density and reduced cooling requirements
-Stable RDS(on) across temperature for predictable thermal design
-Isolated packages that simplify isolation strategy, reduce EMI and improve thermal performance by up to 50 %
-Single-component asymmetrical gate protection that replaces conventional multi-device solutions and minimizes parasitic effects in high-frequency switching
These devices are particularly well suited to LLC resonant converters, PFC stages and high-current DC-DC power supplies commonly used in enterprise servers, AI computing racks and hyperscale data centers.
By combining SiC MOSFETs, Schottky diodes, gate drivers and dedicated protection devices into a cohesive solution, designers can achieve higher efficiency, greater power density and improved long-term reliability while simplifying board layout and thermal management.

Diotec Semiconductor introduces the GBI25J-LV, a cutting-edge bridge rectifier in a GBI single inline case, designed to significantly enhance energy efficiency in server power supplies. This new component offers a 10% lower forward voltage drop per single diode compared to the standard GBI25J model. As two diodes conduct per mains half-cycle, the total power savings reach an impressive 20% at the input bridge.
This innovative rectifier is optimized for power supplies that run continuously, such as those used in internet server stations, data centers, and industrial applications. With a nominal output current of 25 A when the case is maintained at 80°C, the GBI25J-LV ensures reliable and efficient operation. It also boasts a forward surge current rating of 325/360 A at 10/8.3 ms half sine wave pulse and a repetitive peak reverse voltage of 600 V.

Automotive electronic circuits must be protected against reverse polarity. Such events may occur e. g. during service time or jump-starts of the vehicle. For this purpose, hardware designers must take appropriate measures to keep automotive electronics unharmed after a reverse polarity event.
Diotec offers a wide range of AEC-Q101 qualified parts to avoid negative current flow. Application Note describes three of the most common solutions for reverse polarity protection, including benefits and drawbacks as well as recommended components.

One way to make the battery system efficient is minimizing the energy usage while the system is runing or is in standby-mode. This can be realized by limiting the current drawn by the system from the battery. Thanks to Diotec's new LDO Voltage regulators LDI8119EN and LDI8233EN with Enable-function it is possible to switch-off the system, thus the input current will be limited usually up to 1.0 µA.
This simple solution will boost the efficiency of the battery system and prolong battery life. Due to the shutdown current of 0.4 µA - 1.0 µA the LDI8119EN and LDI8233EN are suitable in all battery management applications.
